Many people have neglected writing their wills, although death is the final destination of every living thing regardless of age, health or conscious. The will is something that benefits and affects the status of the dead person after life according to the Hadith:

“If the son of Adam deceased, all of his actions stops except of three things: ongoing charity, valuable knowledge or a righteous offspring who prays for him/her.”

It has been narrated by ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him said:

“It is not allowed for any Muslim who has something that can be bequeathed to stay two nights without a written will with testimonies.”

Will Guidelines

1- It is not allowed for a testator to write his/her will in more than one third of his/her wealth.

2- Hastening in writing the will is recommended according to the Hadith narrated by ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that the messenger of Allah , may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, said, “It is not allowed for any Muslim who has something that can be bequeathed to stay two nights without a written will with testimonies.”

3- The testator has the right to cancel, renew or modify his/her will whenever he/she deems necessary, even if it is authorized by court because it is a non- binding contract and its execution is conditioned by the death of the testator.

4- Writing the will does not mean to stop spending money in charity in your life.

5- All the debts and credits of the testator should be written clearly in the will so that the executor can have a clear status when he deals with his/her responsibilities.

6- If the testator has raised children whom he/she paid for their marriage, it is not allowed to specify a certain amount of money to the other non-married children.

7- The inheritors must be aware of this will.
