That was a nice explanation. I would add that it was a custom in that time to marry girls in early ages because the girls used to grow up early. It sometimes happens in warm countries that some girls become mature before 10. Muhammad 's(pbuh) main concern was not women. Otherwise, he would not have married Khadijah who was forty, while he was 25. He was concerned with Islam's spread among women folk. So, he accepted their offer (he didn't ask for her) because she was smart and could convey the message of Islam properly, and she did so well. Allah intentionally leaves some spaces in certain issues, to examine the pure hearted people who listen to Allah's words in submission, and leave the ones whose hearts are filled with doubt and hypocrisy in their doubts because they chose that way of life, as clearly mentioned in the Quran. That's why we have to ask Allah to keep our hearts stable with faith and do not leave us to ourselves. Allah Knows Best.

What about... Narrated 'Ursa:
"The Prophet asked Abu Bakr for 'Aisha's hand in marriage. Abu Bakr said "But I am your brother." The Prophet said, "You are my brother in Allah's religion and His Book, but she (Aisha) is lawful for me to marry." (Sahih Bukhari 7.18)

Great explanation, but what about " Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death)."
Sahih Bukhari 7:62:64
